Test Score

Percentage and grade from correct answers out of total.

Free to use, no sign-up required. Test Score is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.

Turns a number of correct answers into a percentage score and a letter grade, for teachers marking tests and students checking a result.

How to use Test Score

  1. Enter the number of Correct answers.
  2. Enter the Total questions.
  3. Read the Score as a percentage and the letter Grade.

How it works

Score = correct ÷ total × 100, shown to one decimal place. The letter uses a common US scale: A+ 97 and above, A 93, A− 90, B+ 87, B 83, B− 80, C+ 77, C 73, C− 70, D+ 67, D 60, and F below 60.

Example

42 correct out of 50 is 84%, which is a B.

Questions about Test Score

Is 89.5% an A− or a B+?

On this scale it is a B+, because the cut-off for A− is 90 exactly. Many teachers round to the nearest whole percentage first, which would make it 90 and an A−.

How do I score a test where questions carry different points?

Enter points instead of questions: points earned as Correct answers and points possible as Total questions.

Use it from chat

You do not have to open Test Score to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
