Discount

Final price and savings after a discount.

Free to use, no sign-up required. Discount is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.

Shows the price you pay after a percentage discount and how much you save, for a sale tag, a coupon or a trade discount.

How to use Discount

  1. Enter the Original price.
  2. Enter the Discount %.
  3. Read You pay and You save.

How it works

Saving = price × discount % ÷ 100, and You pay = price − saving. Results show up to two decimal places. Sales tax is not added.

Example

An item at 79.99 with 25% off saves you 20 and costs 59.99.

Questions about Discount

Is 20% off and then another 10% off the same as 30% off?

No. The second discount applies to the already reduced price, so the combined discount is 1 − 0.8 × 0.9 = 28%. Run the tool twice, feeding the first You pay in as the new price.

How do I find the original price from a sale price?

Divide the sale price by (1 − discount ÷ 100). A 59.99 sale price at 25% off came from 59.99 ÷ 0.75 = 79.99.

What it takes

Use it from chat

You do not have to open Discount to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
