Arithmetic or geometric progressions.
Free to use, no sign-up required. Number Sequence is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.
Generates arithmetic sequences (add the same step each time) or geometric sequences (multiply by the same ratio each time). Used for maths exercises, spacing values and quick projections.
Term i (counting from 0) is start + step × i for arithmetic, or start × ratio^i for geometric. Each term is rounded to 10 significant digits for display, which hides floating-point noise such as 0.30000000000000004.
Arithmetic from 3 with step 4 for 6 terms gives 3, 7, 11, 15, 19, 23. Geometric from 3 with ratio 2 gives 3, 6, 12, 24, 48, 96.
Use the formula directly. Arithmetic: start + step × 99. Geometric: start × ratio^99. The 99 is because the first term uses i = 0.
Yes. Use a negative step for a falling arithmetic sequence, or a ratio between 0 and 1 for a shrinking geometric one: start 1 with ratio 0.1 gives 1, 0.1, 0.01, 0.001.
You do not have to open Number Sequence to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
