Remove Line Breaks

Join multi-line text into one line.

Free to use, no sign-up required. Remove Line Breaks is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.

Joins text that is split across many lines into one continuous line. It fixes text copied from PDFs and emails with hard line breaks, and turns a column of values into a single line.

How to use Remove Line Breaks

  1. Paste the multi-line text into the box.
  2. Choose how lines are joined: Space, Comma, or None.
  3. Copy the single line shown below.

How it works

The text is split on line breaks (both Windows CRLF and Unix LF), each line is trimmed at both ends, and empty lines are dropped. The remaining lines are joined with one space, with a comma and a space, or with nothing at all.

Example

The lines “first line”, “ second line ”, a blank line and “third” become “first line second line third” with Space, “first line, second line, third” with Comma, and “first linesecond linethird” with None.

Questions about Remove Line Breaks

Can I keep paragraph breaks and only remove the breaks inside paragraphs?

No. Blank lines are dropped along with every other line break, so all paragraphs end up on one line.

How do I turn a column of values into a comma-separated list?

Paste the column and pick Comma. Each value is trimmed and joined with “, ”, which suits SQL IN lists and spreadsheet formulas.

Use it from chat

You do not have to open Remove Line Breaks to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
