Classic letter-rotation obfuscation (ROT13 and ROT47).
Free to use, no sign-up required. ROT13 / ROT47 is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.
Encodes or decodes text with ROT13 and ROT47, the letter-rotation ciphers used to hide spoilers, puzzle answers and punchlines in plain sight. Both results are shown at once.
ROT13 shifts each English letter 13 places, wrapping from Z back to A, and keeps its case. Digits, punctuation and other characters are untouched. ROT47 shifts every printable ASCII character from ! (33) to ~ (126) by 47 places within that 94-character range, so digits and punctuation change too. Spaces and characters outside that range stay the same.
“Hello, World! 123” becomes “Uryyb, Jbeyq! 123” in ROT13 and “w6==@[ (@C=5P `ab” in ROT47.
The alphabet has 26 letters, so two shifts of 13 add up to a full circle. ROT47 works the same way, as 47 is half of its 94-character range.
No. It has no key and anyone can reverse it, which is why it is used for spoilers, not secrets.
You do not have to open ROT13 / ROT47 to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
