Time Card

Total worked hours from clock-in and clock-out times.

Free to use, no sign-up required. Time Card is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.

Totals the hours in one shift from clock-in and clock-out times, minus an unpaid break, and works out what the shift pays.

How to use Time Card

  1. Enter Clock in (HH:MM) and Clock out (HH:MM) in 24-hour time, such as 09:00 and 17:30.
  2. Enter your unpaid Break in minutes.
  3. Enter your Pay rate per hour.
  4. Read Hours worked in decimal hours and the Pay for the shift.

How it works

Both times are converted to minutes since midnight. If clock-out is earlier than clock-in, the shift is treated as crossing midnight and 24 hours are added. The break is subtracted and the result divided by 60. If the break is longer than the shift, hours are held at 0 and a warning appears. Times must be in H:MM or HH:MM form; entries like 9am are not read.

Example

09:00 to 17:30 is 510 minutes; minus a 30-minute break leaves 480, or 8 hours, which at 20 an hour pays 160. A night shift from 22:00 to 06:30 with a 30-minute break is also 8 hours.

Questions about Time Card

How do I convert decimal hours to hours and minutes?

Multiply the decimal part by 60. 7.75 hours is 7 hours and 45 minutes, and 8.5 hours is 8 hours 30 minutes.

Can a shift be longer than 24 hours?

Not here. The tool reads only clock times, so it can span midnight once but cannot tell a 2-hour shift from a 26-hour one.

Use it from chat

You do not have to open Time Card to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
