Translator

Quick in-widget translation of a short snippet. For translating a whole document or file, ask in chat.

Free to use, no sign-up required. Translator is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.

Translates a short snippet of text into one of eleven languages. It is meant for a message, a sign or a paragraph; for translating a whole document, the full chat is the better place.

How to use Translator

  1. Choose the target language from the dropdown: English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese or Russian.
  2. Paste or type the text in the box — in any language.
  3. Press Translate.
  4. Read the translation below and copy it with the icon at its top right.

How it works

The text and the target language are sent to the Xenition AI engine, where a language model translates it. You do not need to say which language the source text is in. The same text can be translated differently on a second run.

Questions about Translator

Why doesn’t machine translation always match word for word?

Languages differ in word order, idioms and grammar, so a good translation carries meaning rather than individual words. An idiom like it’s raining cats and dogs is translated as heavy rain, not literally.

Should I rely on it for legal or medical text?

No. Machine translation can miss terms of art, tone and small but important details. For contracts, medical instructions or official documents, use a qualified human translator.

What it takes

Use it from chat

You do not have to open Translator to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
