Reverse a string by characters, words, or lines.
Free to use, no sign-up required. Reverse Text is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.
Flips a piece of text backwards by characters, by words, or by lines. People use it for word puzzles, mirror-writing, checking a string from the end, or reversing the order of a list.
In chars mode the text is split into Unicode code points and the order is reversed. In words mode it is split on any run of whitespace, reversed, and joined with single spaces, so tabs and line breaks become spaces. In lines mode it is split on line breaks and the lines are put in reverse order, with each line left intact.
chars turns “stressed” into “desserts”. words turns “the quick brown fox” into “fox brown quick the”.
Characters are reversed one code point at a time. An emoji built from several code points, such as a thumbs-up plus a skin-tone modifier or a family emoji joined with zero-width joiners, has its parts swapped, so it can display as two separate symbols.
No. Every run of spaces, tabs and new lines counts as one separator and the output is joined with single spaces. Use lines mode if you want to keep the lines and only change their order.
You do not have to open Reverse Text to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
