Area and cost of carpet needed for a room.
Free to use, no sign-up required. Carpet Estimator is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.
Estimates the area of carpet to buy for a rectangular room, including a waste allowance, and the total cost at a price per square metre.
Area = length × width × (1 + waste % ÷ 100). Total cost = that area × the price per m². The tool does not model roll widths, so treat the result as a budget figure.
A 5 m × 4 m room is 20 m². With a 10% margin that becomes 22 m², and at 25 per m² the carpet costs 550.
Carpet comes off a roll of fixed width, commonly 4 m or 5 m, so a room wider than the roll needs a seam and some waste. Trimming against skirting boards and matching pile direction also use extra.
Only if the price per m² you enter includes them. Add underlay, grippers and fitting to that figure if you want one total for the job.
You do not have to open Carpet Estimator to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
