Salary Converter

Convert pay between hourly, monthly and yearly figures.

Free to use, no sign-up required. Salary Converter is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.

Converts an hourly wage into annual and monthly pay, or an annual salary back into an hourly rate, based on the hours and weeks you actually work.

How to use Salary Converter

  1. Choose Hourly → Annual or Annual → Hourly.
  2. Enter your Hourly rate or Annual salary.
  3. Set Hours/week and Weeks/year; lower the weeks if you take unpaid time off.
  4. Read the Annual, Monthly and Hourly figures.

How it works

Hours per year = hours per week × weeks per year. Annual = hourly rate × hours per year, or hourly = annual ÷ hours per year. Monthly is annual ÷ 12. All figures are gross: no tax, overtime or benefits are included.

Example

25 an hour at 40 hours a week for 52 weeks is 2,080 hours, or 52,000 a year and 4,333.33 a month. Going the other way, 52,000 over the same hours is 25 an hour.

Questions about Salary Converter

Why use 2,080 hours for a full-time year?

It is 40 hours × 52 weeks, the usual convention. It counts paid holidays as worked time, which is correct for a salaried job with paid leave.

Is monthly pay the same as four weekly paychecks?

No. A year has 52 weeks, not 48, so a month averages about 4.33 weeks. That is why monthly pay is annual ÷ 12 rather than weekly × 4.

Use it from chat

You do not have to open Salary Converter to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
