Time Duration

The time between two dates/times.

Free to use, no sign-up required. Time Duration is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.

Measures the time between two dates and times, for shifts, travel, rentals or how long a job took.

How to use Time Duration

  1. Pick the Start date and time.
  2. Pick the End date and time.
  3. Read the Duration in days, hours and minutes.

How it works

The start is subtracted from the end and rounded to the nearest minute, then split into whole days (1,440 minutes), hours and minutes. Days and hours that are zero are left out. The order does not matter, since the absolute gap is shown. Times are read in your device’s time zone.

Example

From 09:15 on 27 September 2026 to 17:40 on 29 September 2026 is 2d 8h 25m.

Questions about Time Duration

Why is a midnight-to-midnight span 23 or 25 hours?

Across a daylight-saving change, the clocks jump forward or back an hour. The tool measures real elapsed time, so the night the clocks change has one hour fewer or more.

How do I turn the result into decimal hours for a timesheet?

Multiply days by 24, add the hours, and add minutes ÷ 60. 8h 25m is 8 + 25 ÷ 60 = 8.42 hours.

Use it from chat

You do not have to open Time Duration to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
