Stopwatch

A stopwatch with laps.

Free to use, no sign-up required. Stopwatch is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.

A stopwatch that counts up to the hundredth of a second and records lap times. Use it for timing runs, workouts, speeches or anything you want split into parts.

How to use Stopwatch

  1. Press Start to begin counting; the display reads minutes, seconds and hundredths as MM:SS.cc.
  2. Press the flag button to record a lap while it runs.
  3. Press Pause to stop, and Start again to carry on from the same time.
  4. Press the reset arrow to clear the time and every lap.

How it works

Elapsed time is the difference between the current clock and the moment you started, refreshed every 50 milliseconds, so it stays right even if the page is briefly slow. Each lap stores the total elapsed time at the moment you pressed the flag, and the newest lap appears at the top of the list.

Example

Pressing the flag at 01:02.35 and again at 02:10.80 lists “Lap 2 02:10.80” above “Lap 1 01:02.35”. The second lap on its own took 02:10.80 minus 01:02.35, which is 1:08.45.

Questions about Stopwatch

What is the difference between a split and a lap time?

A split is the total time from the start to a point, while a lap time is only the stretch since the previous mark. This stopwatch lists splits, so subtract one from the next to get a single lap.

How precise is a hand-timed result?

The display shows hundredths, but human reaction time adds roughly 0.1 to 0.3 seconds at each press, which is why official sprint results use electronic timing.

Use it from chat

You do not have to open Stopwatch to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
