Convert between Hz, kHz, MHz, and GHz.
Free to use, no sign-up required. Frequency Converter is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.
Converts frequency between hertz, kilohertz, megahertz and gigahertz, and to and from revolutions per minute. Useful for radio and Wi-Fi bands, processor clock speeds, audio, and motor or engine speeds.
Every unit is stored in hertz, cycles per second. kHz, MHz and GHz are decimal steps of 1,000. rpm counts turns per minute, so 1 rpm is 1/60 Hz.
An engine or motor at 3,000 rpm is turning at 50 Hz. The 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band is 2,400 MHz.
Divide by 60, because rpm is per minute and Hz is per second. 1,800 rpm is 30 Hz; 60 Hz is 3,600 rpm.
Not always. GHz is the clock rate, how many cycles per second. How much work a chip does per cycle and how many cores it has matter just as much, so a newer chip at a lower GHz can be faster.
Frequency Converter converts between 5 units: rpm, Hz, kHz, MHz and GHz. Factors are given against Hz.
| Unit | In Hz | 1 Hz equals |
|---|---|---|
| 1 rpm | 0.0166666667 Hz | 60 rpm |
| 1 kHz | 1000 Hz | 0.001 kHz |
| 1 MHz | 1000000 Hz | 0.000001 MHz |
| 1 GHz | 1000000000 Hz | 0.000000001 GHz |
Common quantities in Hz, converted. Every value is computed from the factors above, so the chart and the converter cannot disagree.
| Hz | rpm | kHz | MHz | GHz |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Hz | 60 | 0.001 | 0.000001 | 0.000000001 |
| 2 Hz | 120 | 0.002 | 0.000002 | 0.000000002 |
| 5 Hz | 300 | 0.005 | 0.000005 | 0.000000005 |
| 10 Hz | 600 | 0.01 | 0.00001 | 0.00000001 |
| 25 Hz | 1500 | 0.025 | 0.000025 | 0.000000025 |
| 100 Hz | 6000 | 0.1 | 0.0001 | 0.0000001 |
1 Hz is 60 rpm. To convert Hz to rpm, divide by 0.0166666667 — so 10 Hz is 600 rpm.
1 rpm is 0.0166666667 Hz. To convert rpm to Hz, multiply by 0.0166666667 — so 10 rpm is 0.1666666667 Hz.
1 Hz is 0.001 kHz. To convert Hz to kHz, divide by 1000 — so 10 Hz is 0.01 kHz.
1 kHz is 1000 Hz. To convert kHz to Hz, multiply by 1000 — so 10 kHz is 10000 Hz.
1 Hz is 0.000001 MHz. To convert Hz to MHz, divide by 1000000 — so 10 Hz is 0.00001 MHz.
1 MHz is 1000000 Hz. To convert MHz to Hz, multiply by 1000000 — so 10 MHz is 10000000 Hz.
1 Hz is 0.000000001 GHz. To convert Hz to GHz, divide by 1000000000 — so 10 Hz is 0.00000001 GHz.
1 GHz is 1000000000 Hz. To convert GHz to Hz, multiply by 1000000000 — so 10 GHz is 10000000000 Hz.
You do not have to open Frequency Converter to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
