Quarter of Year

Which fiscal quarter a date falls in.

Free to use, no sign-up required. Quarter of Year is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.

Tells you which quarter a date falls in, for the calendar year or for a fiscal year that starts in any month. Used for reporting periods, tax deadlines and budget planning.

How to use Quarter of Year

  1. Pick a date under Select a date; it opens on today.
  2. Under Fiscal year starts in, keep January for calendar quarters or pick your fiscal start month.
  3. Read the Quarter, such as Q1 2026 or Q4 FY25/26, and the months it covers.

How it works

The tool counts how many months the date is after the fiscal-year start month, divides by 3 and adds 1. Each quarter is three consecutive months from that start. For a non-January start, the year label shows the two years the fiscal year spans, named from its start year.

Example

15 February 2026 is Q1 2026 (Jan–Mar) on a calendar year. With an April start it is Q4 FY25/26 (Jan–Mar), and 10 November 2026 with an October start is Q1 FY26/27 (Oct–Dec).
