Pressure Converter

Convert between pascals, bar, psi, and atmospheres.

Free to use, no sign-up required. Pressure Converter is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.

Converts pressure between pascals, kPa, bar, psi, atmospheres, mmHg, torr and inHg. The usual reasons are tyre pressures, scuba and gas bottles, blood pressure, and weather barometers.

How to use Pressure Converter

  1. Enter the pressure in the left box.
  2. Choose its unit — it starts on bar.
  3. Choose the target unit — it starts on psi.
  4. Read the result in the highlighted box.

How it works

Every unit is stored in pascals: 1 hPa = 1 mbar = 100 Pa, 1 bar = 100,000 Pa, 1 psi = 6,894.757293 Pa, 1 atm = 101,325 Pa, 1 mmHg = 133.322387 Pa and 1 inHg = 3,386.389 Pa. Weather maps and forecasts give air pressure in hPa or mbar, which are the same size.

Example

A tyre placard of 32 psi is 2.206322 bar, or 220.632233 kPa. Standard sea-level air pressure, 1013.25 hPa, reads 29.921252 inHg on an American barometer.

Questions about Pressure Converter

Is tyre pressure absolute or gauge pressure?

Gauge. A tyre gauge reads pressure above the surrounding air, so a flat tyre shows 0 even though it holds about 1 atm. Conversions between psi and bar work the same either way.

Are mmHg and torr the same?

Almost. 1 torr is exactly 1/760 of an atmosphere, 133.3223684 Pa, and 1 mmHg is 133.322387 Pa. The difference is under one part in a million, so blood pressure in mmHg can be read as torr.

Units and conversion factors

Pressure Converter converts between 10 units: Pa, hPa, mbar, torr, mmHg, kPa, inHg, psi, bar and atm. Factors are given against Pa.

Common questions

How many hPa are in 1 Pa?

1 Pa is 0.01 hPa. To convert Pa to hPa, divide by 100 — so 10 Pa is 0.1 hPa.

How many Pa are in 1 hPa?

1 hPa is 100 Pa. To convert hPa to Pa, multiply by 100 — so 10 hPa is 1000 Pa.

How many mbar are in 1 Pa?

1 Pa is 0.01 mbar. To convert Pa to mbar, divide by 100 — so 10 Pa is 0.1 mbar.

How many Pa are in 1 mbar?

1 mbar is 100 Pa. To convert mbar to Pa, multiply by 100 — so 10 mbar is 1000 Pa.

How many torr are in 1 Pa?

1 Pa is 0.0075006168 torr. To convert Pa to torr, divide by 133.3223684 — so 10 Pa is 0.0750061683 torr.

How many Pa are in 1 torr?

1 torr is 133.3223684 Pa. To convert torr to Pa, multiply by 133.3223684 — so 10 torr is 1333.223684 Pa.

How many mmHg are in 1 Pa?

1 Pa is 0.0075006158 mmHg. To convert Pa to mmHg, divide by 133.322387 — so 10 Pa is 0.0750061578 mmHg.

How many Pa are in 1 mmHg?

1 mmHg is 133.322387 Pa. To convert mmHg to Pa, multiply by 133.322387 — so 10 mmHg is 1333.22387 Pa.
