Converts a shoe size between EU, US men’s, US women’s and UK sizes, and estimates foot length in centimetres. It gives a starting point when buying shoes from another country.
Everything goes through the EU size. US men = EU − 33, US women = EU − 31, UK = EU − 33.5, and foot length in cm = (EU − 2) ÷ 1.5. Sizes are rounded to the nearest half size; foot length keeps one decimal. These are chart approximations, not a standard.
A US men’s 9 comes out as EU 42, UK 8.5, US women’s 11, and a foot length of about 26.7 cm.
There is no single international standard. Each brand builds on its own last (foot mould) and rounds sizes differently, so the same EU number can fit differently. Measuring your foot and checking the brand’s chart is the safest route.
Stand on paper with your heel against a wall, mark the tip of your longest toe, and measure from the wall to the mark in centimetres. Measure both feet in the evening, when feet are largest, and use the longer one.
