Strong random passwords with length and character options.
Free to use, no sign-up required. Password Generator is one of 198 tools built into Xenition, alongside a chat that can use them for you.
Makes random passwords of 6 to 48 characters from the character types you choose, for any account that needs a new password.
Characters come from crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, so none is favoured. The pool joins the selected sets: 26 lowercase, 26 uppercase, 10 digits and 23 symbols (!@#$%^&*()-_=+[]{};:,.?), 85 in all. One character from each selected set is picked first, the rest from the whole pool, then a Fisher–Yates shuffle mixes their order. The Strength label is a rough guide: the length divided by 6, rounded down, plus the number of sets minus 2, capped at Excellent.
With all four sets on and a length of 16, the pool is 85 characters, and about 102.3 bits of randomness remain once every set is guaranteed, just under the 102.6 of 16 × log2(85); the label reads Excellent. With only digits at length 16 it is about 53.2 bits.
Usually yes. Each extra character multiplies the number of possibilities by the whole pool size, while adding symbols only grows the pool from 62 to 85.
Every selected type is already included, so it is usually a banned symbol. Turn off symbols or press refresh.
You do not have to open Password Generator to use it. Ask Xenition in plain language and it runs the right tool, then carries the answer into whatever you are working on — a document, a spreadsheet, a deck.
